Addis Ababa October 17/2020 (ENA) Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen known as for concerted efforts to avert the antagonistic impacts of the desert locust invasion within the nation.

The Deputy Prime Minister made the comment on the eighth Basins Growth Council Meeting held in Addis Ababa on Friday.

The meeting has primarily targeted on catastrophe response, the prevention of flooding and sort out Water hyacinth.

In the course of the event, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke stated the desert locust plague imposed huge destruction on crops which might be prepared for harvest.

Stating that the federal government has been endeavor numerous efforts to stop the plague, Demeke identified that works are underway to deliver chemical spraying planes.

In the meantime, the Deputy Prime Minister burdened the necessity for concerted efforts.
